Fear or Faith | Week 1
Mark 11:22-24 (NKJV)—So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Luke 17:5-6 (NKJV)—And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” 6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
Jesus acts as if mountain moving faith is a normal part of life, like it’s no big deal.
“Just speak to the mountain…” “If you had faith as a mustard seed…”
QUESTION: What if I told you that all long you’ve had all the faith you would ever need?
Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)—For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God…
Romans 12:3 (KJV)—“God has dealt to every man THE measure of faith.”
James 2:14-17 (NKJV)—What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works (action)? Can faith save him (can faith have any impact)? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works (action), is dead.
You have faith, and the faith you have will do what Jesus said it would do. It will move mountains.
But, faith that doesn’t move isn’t faith at all (tool sitting on a shelf).
For our faith to move mountains, our faith must be put into motion.
We put our faith into motion when we act like the Word of God is TRUE.
A faith that never moves is a faith that will never move a mountain.
Nothing changes until we act like what our Father is saying is true—“Jump son! I will catch you.”
QUESTION: What is it that brings our faith to life? What makes us more willing to jump?
Galatians 5:1-4 (NKJV)—Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
When we stand at the edge of the pool and use our behavior, our ability and our goodness to determine if God will catch us or not, we can never find enough evidence to assure us He will.
Galatians 5:6 (KJV)—For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith worketh by love.
It is a revelation of God’s grace that energizes your faith.
Knowing how much God loves you increases the movement of your faith.
Romans 10:17 says that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”
1 John 4:17-18 17 (NKJV) Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
There is nothing more you can do but jump!
