Where Do We Go From Here? - Week 4

Finding Your Place

Genesis 12:2-3 (NLT)—I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

Your fulfillment will never be found in what you get; it will always be found in what you give.

  • God’s blessings are not designed stop with you.

Giving is an expression of love.

  • God gave to us because He loved us (John 3:16)

  • To be a Christian is to be a giver.

CAUTION: It’s more about why you give as opposed to what you give.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (AMPC)—Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful (joyous) giver [whose heart is in his giving].—Godly giving is a matter of the heart

  • The ability to love and give to others is in you.

Romans 5:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)—5 God’s love has been abundantly poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

There is no excuse not to love others, there is only the choice.

  • It’s vital that we choose to love, because love has a purpose.

Love brings us close to others; it lays the groundwork for the greater blessing.

  • Romans 2:4 (NKJV)—The goodness of God leads men to repentance.

John 3:17 (NLT)—God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

  • Jesus didn’t come preaching the bad news; He came preaching the Good News!

  • 1 Corinthians 13:8—Love never fails

  • Proverbs 18:16—A man’s gift makes room for him (prepares a place; creates space)

Giving to, caring for, and meeting the needs of others is just the prep-work for the real blessing—Having your sins forgiven and coming into a relationship with the living God.

This is God’s plan to save the world-and it involves YOU!

Acts 1:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)—8 But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [going to tell people about Me, what I’ve done, and what I’ve done in your life] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”

You have received His power, His ability, His life, His nature, and His love, and He has sent you out to do something with what He gave you

  • To go love, to go give, to go make a difference

Psalm 139:13-16 (CLT)—13 I formed your innermost being; I shaped your delicate inside and your intricate outside, and I wove and knit them all together when you were in your mother’s womb. 14 I made you so mysteriously complex! Everything I did for you is marvelously breathtaking. I thoroughly know you. 15 I formed every bone in your body when I created you in my secret place, in the hidden place, carefully, skillfully shaping you, I embroidered every detail of who you are; I made something from nothing, stitch by stitch.16 I saw who you would be before I created you.  Before you ever saw the light of day, the number of days I had already planned for you; they were already recorded in my book.

  • You are the plan God has to change the world, because He created you to make a difference (and you will never find happiness and fulfillment until you accept this truth).

Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV)—[Jesus] gave pastors and teachers the job of equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.

Goal of the Church

  1. The church is a hospital; it introduces you to the cure for your illness.
    • Know God—Where you are introduced to the love of God.
  2. The church is a rehab center; it helps you regain your strength.
    • Grow—Where you find freedom
  3. The church is a training facility; it equips you to fulfill your purpose (find).
    • Find Purpose—Where you find yourself, your calling, what you were created to do.
  4. The church is the launching point, out from which you go and make a difference (go).
    • Go Make a Difference—Where you use your gifts to make a difference and find fulfillment.
  • Many need to make it to the hospital—KNOW and experience the love of God.

  • Others need to go through some rehab—GROW and be encouraged to take another step

  • Others need to be trained and directed—FIND their gifts and purpose in life.

  • We all need the support of one another—GO live out our purpose and make a difference.

Everyone is somewhere in this process: KNOWING, GROWING, FINDING or GOING
