Meet the New Me - Part 6
FLUTES AND FLOWER POTS
Judges 7:2—The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength.
God always wants to show off, and He wants to do it through your victories.
Ephesians 3:20-21 (NLV)—God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think through His power working in us.
Judges 7:3—3 Therefore, tell the people, ‘Whoever is timid or afraid may leave this mountain[a] and go home.’” So 22,000 of them went home, leaving only 10,000 who were willing to fight.
For God to show off through your victories, you will have to trust Him through your battles.
What we see as a catastrophe, God sees as an opportunity for victory.
Judges 7:4—4 But the Lord told Gideon, “There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not.”
There are some people that will not be able to make the journey with you.
Judges 7:6-7—6 Only 300 of the men drank from their hands.
God knows exactly where He’s leading you, so He prepares you for that destination.
Judges 7:9—9 That night the Lord said, “Get up! Go down into the Midianite camp, for I have given you victory over them!10 But if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah.11 Listen to what the Midianites are saying, and you will be greatly encouraged. Then you will be eager to attack.”
God’s grace always assists us where we are as we move toward where we are going.
Judges 7:16—16 He divided the 300 men into three groups and gave each man a ram’s horn and a clay jar with a torch in it.
Imagine what this must have felt like—no weapon, just a flute and a flower pot.
Judges 7:17-18—17 Then he said to them, “Keep your eyes on me. When I come to the edge of the camp, do just as I do. 18 As soon as I and those with me blow the rams’ horns, blow your horns, too, all around the entire camp, and shout, ‘For the Lord and for Gideon!’”
We dismiss what God is doing because of how He is doing it.
God knows the enemy's tactics and his plan when it comes to his attacks in your life.
Zechariah 4:6—6 It’s not by might and it’s not by power, but it’s by My Spirit says the Lord.
Psalm 20:7—7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will trust in the Name of the Lord our God.
Even though the odds are stacked against you, God ALWAYS provides a way of escape.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)—13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
