Meet the New Me - Part 1

Consider the Source

Judges 6—Gideon, Mighty Man of Valor

Before there could be an amazing story told about Gideon, God had to change the story that Gideon told himself.

Three questions we ask ourselves:

  1. Who am I?—What is my Identity?

  2. What can I do?—What is my Capacity?

  3. Where am I going—What is my Destiny?

With each answer, we either create or eliminate the limitations within which we live.

There are two sources of information from which we can find answers to questions about our Identity, Capacity, and Destiny.

1 Corinthians 2:4-8—And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

1 Corinthians 2:9—9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

1 Corinthians 2:10-14—10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

There is an entire world of advanced wisdom, insight, power, and information available to us.

  • The TRUTH about our Identity, Capacity, and Destiny

This information is beyond what we can perceive, know, learn, or understand with our five senses; it’s spiritually discerned.

God has transmitted His wisdom, insight, and power to us through the Word of God.

1 Corinthians 1:21-25—For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe (the foolish message). 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the world this is foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, it is received as the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 the foolishness of God is clearly seen to be wiser than men, and the weakness of God is clearly seen to be stronger than men.

  • You will never experience the fullness of God without embracing the foolishness of the Word.

John 8:32—When you embrace the truth, the truth will set you free.

Isaiah 55:8-9 New King James Version (NKJV)8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].
