Meet the New Me - Part 4

The Power of Purpose

Ephesians 2:10 (AMP)—10 For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

Ephesians 2:10 (TPT)—10 We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!

  • God has placed a purpose in every human heart.

Proverbs 19:21—There are many plans in a man’s heart, but it’s the LORD's purpose that will prevail (to stand up or arise from sleep).

Our most well prepared plans for this life will never satisfy the cry of God’s purpose for our lives.

  • Purpose is like the rudder on a ship; it steers us where we need to go.

  • Without a rudder to keep us on course, we simply wander aimlessly through life continually tossed about by the wind and waves.

Proverbs 29:18—Where there is no vision (revelation), the people cast off restraint.

Matthew 12:43-45—43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

  • If we never replace what we’ve removed, we leave a void.

How do I find my purpose?

Your purpose is always connected to your gift.

1 Peter 4:10 (TLB)—10 God has given each of you a gift, a special ability; be sure to use it to help each other, passing on to others God’s love.

Matthew 5:14-16—14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Your fulfillment is found in your purpose, and your purpose is found in your gift.

Proverbs 18:16—A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great me.
